The Birth of Our Logo

Completed in 2007 the Shin-Sen-Gumi logo was designed by the famed calligraphy artist Hiroyuki Yamazaki. Some of his more famous works include the logo of Hiroshi Motomiya’s “Ore no Sora” and the world wide hit movies “the Last Samurai” and “Hero”.

The character of “Magokoro” (means sincerity) is the symbol and it has the shape of Tokunoshima, the hometown of Shin-Sen-Gumi president Mitsuyasu Shigeta, and appears in red on the upper right of the logo. It expresses passion of people who are involved in Shin-Sen-Gumi. Picking up on the fact that during its 15 years of existence the Shin-Sen-Gumi Group had not used one specific logo, Kenji Ine, an old friend of Mr. Shigeta, who is from Tokunoshima and runs an advertising firm in Tokyo, hired Hiroyuki Yamazaki to design the Shin-Sen-Gumi logo and gave it to Mr. Shigeta as a gift. The idea of placing the shape of Tokunoshima Island on the logo was Mr. Ine’s and it is with the intention of showing his respect to Mr. Shigeta.

Currently, instead of using the “Magokoro” logo, “Shin-Sen-Gumi 2go” uses Mr. Shigeta’s family crest. This family crest was only given to the firearms general in the military by Shimazu Family.
